Family Stories Come to Life

A man on the plane from Atlanta yesterday was going to a Startup event in Canada where he would be seeking lots of money for his new company in the chemical industry. It also happened to be the day that my new company, StoryWings, was officially launching after a long time of technology development and testing as well as setting up the business and launch campaign.

I considered not telling him about my startup because it is so much more modest as a little B2C (business to customer) compared to the monster industry he was in...and he was a Millennial male. Definitely NOT my target market. I told him about it anyway (I was overflowing with happiness and anticipation about it), and I fully expected to be patted on the head and told, 'that's sweet'. 

Imagine my surprise when his eyes lit up and he showed a great deal of interest! He was genuinely excited about StoryWings. It turned out that his family gathers four times a year and at each one they recount family stories with someone designated as a note taker. He said that StoryWings would be the perfect tool to not only capture the stories, but the voices telling them. He was excited about having a place to easily keep and access them instead of the various shoe boxes that their story notes live in now. 

I gave him my card  and thought, what a wonderful first day for StoryWings!
